Construction will start this fall on a pavilion in Town Park similar to the
one picture above. Bidding for this 50' x 124' prefabricated structure should be
going out in the next two weeks. The community pavilion was first suggested by
the Town Park Home Owners Association; approved by the Town Board and grant money was received.

Central school officials will attend TPHA meeting
|
Tuesday, September 5 is a very important date to remember. Cheektowaga
Central school officials will attend our meeting that night to present
details of construction plans for the district.
They will be asking for our opinion about which projects, if any, should
be presented to district residents in a referendum vote possibly this year.
After the defeat of the April 12 referendum, the TPHA passed a resolution
that we would support a single proposition which represents a scaled down
version of the original proposition No. 1 to make some additions to our
school buildings if Pine Hill school remains open.
Some questions we will probably ask are, what is the projected enrollment
next year of each grade K to 12? We will also want to know the pupil
capacity of each building in the district and how many students are
presently enrolled in each grade.
Another concern ~ Is the district still considering starting an optional
pre-K program, and if so, what is the projected enrollment? The State
Education Department says the district is eligible for only $2,000 per
pupil in state aid. Where would these pupils be placed? The cost of
constructing building space to house these new pupils would probably be
much greater.
We will also want an itemized list of each project and cost.
All members are asked to please attend this important meeting.

Construction Will Start This Fall On Pavilion in Town Park
|
The area near the cultural center in Town Park is scheduled to get a new
events pavilion, thanks to $145,000 that state and county legislators
obtained for the town.
All summer long the town sponsors many music events in Town Park. Bands
are brought in to play music for all ages. And we all enjoy the
Independence Day celebration sponsored by the Patriotic Commission; the
Polish Festival weekend; and the Annual German festival weekend.
Thousands of people attend these events each year. Many residents sit on
lawn chairs to enjoy the music. They would probably also enjoy dancing but
there is limited space on the stage in the cultural center. And during
inclement weather events are cancelled.
After this 6,200 square foot covered pavilion is built, the town can
sponsor events such as a Glen Miller night. Many residents will be able to
dance to old-time music from the '40s and '50s era, or just sit and enjoy
the music.
During the day time, in rainy weather, youngsters can enjoy town-sponsored
crafts and games. The pavilion will be used by many.
The pavilion steering committee has been meeting on a regular basis and
final plans for the facility were just completed. Paving stones to maintain
green space will be used to surround the pavilion.
The structure will be equipped with electricity, water and a public
address system connected to the cultural center. For special events,
provision will be available along the rear of the pavilion for use by
vendors. Residents will be able to sit and dine or dance on the large dance
floor.
Work on the foundation will begin as soon as the bids are awarded. With a
dry fall season, assembly of the prefabricated structure could be completed
in weeks.
